I used to run six projects at once. It felt like resilience and it was actually a tax: every switch cost an afternoon of remembering where I was.
Now it is four or five a year, rarely more than two at once, and each one gets more weeks. The invoices are the same size by the year. The work is noticeably better, and I stopped working Sundays.
