A plant watered every Sunday is being watered for the calendar, not for the conditions. In July that might be right. In January it is usually drowning.
Growth stops when light drops, and a plant that is not growing is barely drinking. From November to February most of these want roughly half what they wanted in June: the cacti stop entirely, the philodendron goes to a fortnight.
Feel the soil instead of counting days. Push a finger in to the second knuckle. If it comes out damp, wait. Yellow lower leaves almost always mean the finger test was skipped.
