Most of the time this slab is a backdrop. It is worth photographing on its own terms occasionally, if only to learn what it does with light.
Directional light turns the veining into ridges, which is wrong — polished marble is flat and should read flat. Fully diffused overhead, no direction at all, and the pattern stays in the stone where it belongs.
Useful as a texture, and useful as a reminder that a backdrop is a material with opinions.
