Why the Main Hall seats 900, not 2,000

Tagus Riverside Hall, Lisbon

15–17 Sep 2027

The conference opens in 353 days.

A full auditorium seen from behind two speakers at the front, the audience in dark suits and dresses under warm light

We were offered a hall for two thousand. We chose one for nine hundred, because from its back row you can still see the speaker's face without looking at a screen.

From the back row you can still see the speaker's face.

A smaller room changes a conference. Questions come from the floor instead of an app, speakers stay for lunch, and the coffee break is a conversation rather than a queue. It also means tickets sell out, which is why the early-bird price ends on 30 April.

If the Main Hall is full, the River Room shows every talk live on a big screen, with its own microphone for questions.
