The argument for Friday releases is that the weekend is quiet. The argument against is that so are we. We shipped a migration one Friday in April and spent Saturday fixing it from a wedding.
Releases now go out Tuesday morning. If something breaks there is a full working week to notice, and nobody is reading logs at a reception.
