Two ceramic mugs on a white surface, one upright and one on its side

Two Cups, One Window

One north-facing window, a sheet of white card opposite it, and about an hour before the light moves off the table entirely. That is the entire lighting setup.

Tipping the second mug over does more for the picture than any amount of lighting would. Two upright mugs are an inventory; one on its side is a moment.

The shadow is the subject as much as the ceramic. Move the card closer and you lose it; take it away and it goes black.
