The picture is only interesting because your own feet are in it. Remove them and it is an aerial shot like any other — a grid of roofs, some traffic, no reason to look twice.
With the shoes at the top of the frame it becomes a story about where the camera is, and the viewer’s stomach does the rest of the work.
