A suspension bridge fading into thick fog, only the near tower fully visible

The Bridge Disappears

Fog does the editing for you. Everything behind the second tower is simply gone, and what is left is a line drawing — two verticals, a curve, and a road that stops existing about a third of the way across.

I have photographed this bridge on clear days and the pictures are postcards. On this morning it was a diagram of itself.

Exposure is the whole problem. Meter for the fog and the cables vanish; meter for the cables and the fog turns grey and dead. I ended up a stop over and pulled it back.
