Still tidal water reflecting a pale sunrise, dark rocks scattered across the shallows

Low Tide at Blue Hour

The tide goes out far enough here that the rocks turn into a second sky. You get about eleven minutes before the colour drains out of it, and most of that is spent deciding which rock is the subject.

I set up too far back the first two mornings. The picture only works when the nearest rock is close enough to feel like you could step on it — which, on wet granite in the dark, is a decision with consequences.

Nine seconds at f/11, ISO 100, tripod legs sunk into the sand until they stopped moving.

The ripples smooth out at around six seconds. Past ten you lose the texture entirely.
