A pallet arriving at our cold store spends about four minutes at the dock door before it goes anywhere near a rack. In that time the goods-in team checks four things, in the same order every time.
Temperature first
A probe reading from the product itself, not the air in the trailer, and the trailer's own temperature record for the journey. A reading outside the agreed range stops the pallet on the dock and the client hears from us before it is unloaded any further.
Paperwork, labels, wrap
The delivery note is checked against the booking, every case label is scanned, and the stretch wrap is inspected for tears. A torn wrap on a frozen pallet lets in warm air at every door it passes, so it is re-wrapped before it goes into the freezer.
Only then does the pallet get a location, and the photograph of it on the dock goes into the client's portal the same minute.
