Three evenings later, it has.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a friend\u2019s birthday dinner it went with gold sandals and my grandmother\u2019s earrings. For a gallery opening, a cropped white jacket and flat shoes. For a walk by the sea, nothing but sunglasses and a scarf for the wind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The rule I now shop by<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If I can\u2019t picture three different evenings in something, I leave it in the shop.
