This is what was on the bike for five days on the coast in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bag by bag<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Handlebar roll:<\/strong> tent, sleeping bag and a down jacket.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Frame bag:<\/strong> stove, pot, fuel, food for the day and the repair kit.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Seat pack:<\/strong> spare clothes, a wool base layer and a rain shell.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Top tube bag:<\/strong> phone, snacks, sunscreen and the tide table.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two things I would never leave behind are a proper pair of camp socks and a small foam pad to sit on. Neither is on any gear list I have ever read, and both make the evenings better.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Everything on the bike, bag by bag, after a summer of trimming.
